Visto que a minha passagem pelo Big Sur, Los Padres National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Six Rivers National Forest, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, foram só mesmo isso, passagens... Finalmente decidimos ir ver um dos parques nacionais que tanto insisti por causa das suas árvores. Quando planeei lá ir, foi porque sempre pensei que a General Sherman era a árvore mais alta viva do mundo, há quem defenda que sim e há quem defenda que não. Seja como for é alta que se farta, é um sitio delicioso de se visitar e só tenho pena das fotografias da neve terem ficado queimadas.
A árvore General Sherman, assim nomeada por causa de um militar de um dos corpos de expedição que passaram por aquelas terras) é uma Sequóia gigante localizada no Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park, no Condado de Tulare, na Califórnia. Em volume, é a maior árvore viva de tronco único conhecida na Terra
Bearing in mind that my way to Big Sur, Los Padres National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Six Rivers National Fores, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, were just like that, passing right through, we finally decided to go and see one of the national parks that I most insisted because of it's trees. When I planned to go there, it was because I always thought that General Sherman was the tallest living tree in the world, there are those who argue that it is and there are those who argue that it isn't. Anyway, it's high that you get tired, it's a delightful place to visit and I only feel sorry for the photographs of the snow that didn't expose the right way.
General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, in the U.S. state of California. By volume, it is the largest known living single-stem tree on Earth.
Embora seja a árvore tida como maior em volume, a General Sherman não é nem a árvore viva mais alta que haja conhecimento no planeta Terra (esse pódio pertence à árvore Hyperion, uma Sequóia Costeira), [nem é a mais larga (tanto o maior Cipreste quanto o maior Baobá têm um diâmetro maior), nem é a árvore viva mais antiga conhecida na Terra (esse pódio pertence a um Pinheiro Bristlecone). Nem sempre é fácil datar uma árvore viva, mas a maioria dos especialistas concorda que um Pinheiro Bristlecone (Pinus longaeva) na cordilheira White Mountain na Califórnia apelidado de "Matusalém", tem mais de 4.700 anos.
Com uma altura de 83,8 metros (275 pés), um diâmetro de 7,7 m (25 pés), um volume estimado do fuste de 1.487 m3 (52.513 pés cúbicos) e uma idade estimada de 2.300–2.700 anos, está sem dúvida entre as árvores mais altas, largas e com vida mais longa do planeta.
While it's the largest tree known, the General Sherman Tree is neither the tallest known living tree on Earth (that distinction belongs to the Hyperion tree, a Coast Redwood), nor is it the widest (both the largest Cypress and largest Baobab have a greater diameter), nor is it the oldest known living tree on Earth (that distinction belongs to a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine). It isn't always easy to date a living tree, but most experts agree that a Bristlecone Pine Tree (Pinus Longaeva) in California's White Mountain range nicknamed Methuselah, is over 4,700 years old.

Depois de ver a Sequóia, metemos pés ao caminho e fomos ver a Hanging Rock, o acesso não é difícil mas não é fácil de a encontrar, convém levar as coordenadas certas e um mapa/GPS que não precise de internet, pois não sei se sabem mas nas florestas e parques nacionais dos E.U.A nem sempre se apanha sinal de rede.
Para completar a brincadeira estava a ficar tarde, tínhamos km para andar e estavamos com pouquíssima bateria e vontade de ir a casa de banho, mas não dou tréguas e quando quero uma coisa vou até ao fim, pena que as fotografias dentro de troncos enormes, ocos e com entradas desafiadoras também queimaram :( tenho-o como só mais um motivo para lá voltar! :)
Subir à pedra não é pêra doce, foi difícil mas valeu muito a pena! Se lá forem tenham cuidado, levem roupa e calçado confortável e disfrutem porque há coisas únicas e a Natureza é a melhor coisa que temos, não deixem lixo por lá! Vi poucas pontas de cigarro e nenhum lixo, plástico, cartão etc, que me lembre, maior parte do caminho a estrada estava fechada porque fecham no inverno devido ao gelo e neve, talvez por isso consigam preservar melhor as florestas, não sei, o que tenho a certeza é que é crucial preservar a Natureza.
After seeing the Sequoia, we hit the road by feet because there was no car access and we went to see the Hanging Rock, the way to it isn't difficult if you're used to walk, but it isn't easy to find it, it's better to take the right coordinates and a map / GPS that does not need internet. I don't know if you know but in the forests and national parks of the USA you don't always get a network signal.
To complete the game, it was getting late, we had miles to walk to it and back and we had very little battery and the urge to go to the bathroom, but I never give up and when I want something I go get it, too bad the photos inside huge logs, hollowed and with challenging entries also didn't expose the right way :( I have it as just one more reason to go back there! :)
Climbing the rock is not easy-peasy, it was difficult but it was very worth it! If you go there be careful, take comfortable clothes and shoes and enjoy because there are unique things and Nature is the best thing we have, don't leave garbage there! I saw few cigarette butts and no garbage, plastic, cardboard etc, as far as I remember, most of the way the road was closed because they close in winter due to ice and snow, so maybe they can better preserve the forests, I don't know, what I am sure is that it's crucial to preserve Nature.

Los Angeles, a cidade que toda a vida, senti como minha, minha casa, meu amor, meu sonho, quando pisei nela, tudo fez sentido, se pudesse era lá que estava até hoje...
À chegada vi multiplicarem-se os actos de homenagem ao Kobe Bryant, tinha morrido poucos dias antes e o choque foi enorme, vi coisas muito bonitas e de uma sensibilidade tremenda.
Decidi eternizar essa parede de grafitti que os fãs prontamente encheram de post-it com diversas mensagens.
Eu não tinha post-it e decidi ir escrever a minha mensagem no mural em frente ao Staples Center onde jogam os Lakers.
Los Angeles, the city that all my life, felt like mine, my home, my love, my dream, when I stepped on it, everything made sense, if I could choose to be somewhere, I would definitely be in LA.
Upon arrival I saw the acts of homage to Kobe Bryant, multiply. Kobe died a few days before i went to LA and the shock was huge, I saw very beautiful things and tremendous sensitivity.
I've decided to eternalize this graffiti wall that the fans promptly filled with post-it notes with various messages.
I didn't have a post-it note and decided to write my message on the created wall in front of the Staples Center where the Lakers play.

Que lindo dia passado a passear por uma linda parte da costa Californiana, lugares icónicos ao longo da famosa 17-Mile Drive incluindo "The Lone Cypress", "Spanish Bay" e Pebble Beach com os seus vastos campos de golf, não tive a sorte de ver o Tiger ☻
What a beautiful day spent strolling along a beautiful part of the Californian coast, iconic places along the famous 17-Mile Drive including "The Lone Cypress", "Spanish Bay" and Pebble Beach with its vast Golf courses... I was not lucky enough to see Tiger ☻

Desde que me lembro, Portland no Oregon foi sempre uma cidade presente no meu imaginário, a par de outras tantas pelos Estados Unidos da América. Na minha primeira vez na costa oeste dos E.U.A não podia perder a oportunidade de a visitar, foi uma imensa viagem Califórnia a cima, passando por vales, planícies, florestas e parques naturais que só na Califórnia podemos perder ou ganhar "uma vida" a visitar.
Foi das viagens mais densas; de vegetação, terra e mar, e que feliz fiquei por passear por vários pontos que me encheram de interesse, anted e durante. Interesse esse que perdurará, sem qualquer margem para dúvida! Ainda voltarei, para fazer a costa oeste dos E.U.A de norte a sul, assim a vida me permita!
E permitirá!
For as long as I can remember, Portland, Oregon has always been a city present in my imagination, alongside many others across the United States of America. On my first time on the west coast of the U.S. I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit it, it was an immense trip up California, going through valleys, prairies, forests and natural parks that alone in California we can lose or win "a life" to visit.
It was one of the most dense trips; of vegetation, land and sea, and I was happy to stroll through several points that filled me with interest, before and during. Interest that will last, without any doubt! I will be back, to make the west coast of the U.S. from north to south, so life will allow me!
And It will!

Meio dia em Copenhaga e fiquei conquistada. Copenhaga transmite confiança, conforto, modernidade e história. Uma cidade bem elegante, cosmopolita, que comecei a explorar bem cedo onde quase ninguém andava nas ruas! Esta é a melhor opção sempre: levantar cedo e aproveitar!.
Half a day in Copenhagen and I was conquered. Copenhagen conveys confidence, comfort, modernity and history. A very elegant, cosmopolitan city, which I started exploring early in the morning, where almost no one walked the streets! This is the best option ever: get up early and enjoy!
